Wheel Loader Hauling Services
R&RM LLC specializes in transporting wheel loaders of all sizes — from compact utility loaders under 10,000 lbs to massive mining-class loaders exceeding 200,000 lbs. Whether you're moving a Cat 966 between job sites or shipping a Komatsu WA600 to a mine, we handle the permitting, routing, and safe delivery anywhere in the continental United States. Our team has been hauling heavy construction equipment since 2011, and we understand the specific loading, tie-down, and oversize requirements that wheel loaders present.
Types of Loaders We Transport
- Large Wheel Loaders: Mining-class and large construction loaders over 50,000 lbs — Cat 980 through 994, Komatsu WA500 through WA1200
- Medium Wheel Loaders: The workhorse of most construction fleets — Cat 966, 972; Komatsu WA380, WA430; Deere 644, 724; Volvo L120, L150
- Small Wheel Loaders: Compact utility loaders for landscaping, agriculture, and light construction — Cat 910, 914; Deere 444, 524
- Compact Track Loaders: CTLs and skid steers from Caterpillar, Bobcat, Case, John Deere, and Kubota
- Integrated Tool Carriers: Specialty loader configurations with integrated bucket or tool-carrier geometry
Wheel Loader Brands We Haul
Caterpillar Wheel Loaders
Caterpillar produces the most widely used wheel loaders in North American construction and mining. We regularly transport the full Cat loader lineup:
- Small Frame: 910M, 914M, 918M, 926M, 930M — operating weights from 18,000 to 31,000 lbs
- Medium Frame: 938M, 950M, 962M, 966M, 972M — operating weights from 36,000 to 55,000 lbs
- Large Frame: 980M, 982M, 986H, 988K — operating weights from 86,000 to 125,000 lbs
- Mining Class: 990K, 992K, 993K, 994K — operating weights from 147,000 to 428,000 lbs; these large-class units require multi-axle RGN configurations and state oversize permits
Large Cat loaders such as the 988 and above often require dismounting of the cab, bucket, or ROPS structure prior to transport due to height restrictions. Our team coordinates all disassembly logistics with your equipment operators.
Komatsu Wheel Loaders
Komatsu wheel loaders are a staple on large earthmoving and aggregate operations. We transport all current and legacy Komatsu loader models:
- Compact: WA70, WA100, WA150, WA200 — suitable for standard flatbed or step-deck transport
- Medium: WA270, WA320, WA380, WA430, WA470 — most require RGN loading for drive-on access
- Large: WA500, WA600, WA700 — oversize loads requiring permit coordination
- Mining: WA800, WA900, WA1200 — extreme-class loaders requiring specialized multi-axle transport
John Deere Wheel Loaders
Deere's K-Series and L-Series loaders are common in construction, aggregate, and agricultural applications. We haul the full range:
- Small: 244L, 304L, 344L — compact machines often transported via flatbed or lowboy
- Medium: 444L, 524L, 544L, 624L, 644L — mainstream construction loaders requiring RGN or step-deck transport
- Large: 724L, 744L, 824L, 844L, 944K — large-frame loaders requiring oversize permits on most routes
Volvo Wheel Loaders
Volvo CE wheel loaders are widely used in European-spec and North American construction fleets. We transport all L-Series models:
- Compact: L25, L28, L35, L45, L50 — small loaders transportable on flatbeds
- Medium: L60, L70, L90, L110, L120, L150 — most require RGN for safe drive-on loading
- Large: L180, L220, L250, L260, L350 — these models exceed standard legal widths and heights and require oversize transport permits in most states
Other Loader Brands
We also transport wheel loaders from CASE (621G through 1121G), Liebherr (L 506 through L 586), Hyundai HL series, Doosan DL series, and Hitachi ZW series. If your loader brand isn't listed, call us — we haul all makes and models.
Loader Transport Methods
- RGN Hauling: The preferred method for most wheel loaders. The detachable gooseneck ramp allows the loader to drive directly onto the trailer under its own power, eliminating the need for cranes or forklifts. RGN transport is the safest and most cost-effective option for machines with full tires and operational drives.
- Step-Deck Flatbed: Used for smaller compact loaders and CTLs that fit within legal height limits. This is the most economical option for machines under about 48,000 lbs and 10 feet tall.
- Oversize Transport: Required for large loaders (Cat 980+, Komatsu WA500+, Volvo L180+) that exceed standard legal width, height, or weight limits. We handle all permit applications, route surveys, and pilot car coordination through our permit services.
- Multi-Axle Heavy Haul: For mining-class loaders in the 150,000 to 400,000 lb range, we arrange specialized multi-axle transport with appropriate weight distribution across 13 to 20+ axles.
Wheel Loader Dimensions & Permit Requirements
Understanding when a loader move requires permits is essential for cost and scheduling. Standard legal limits in most states are 8 feet 6 inches wide, 13 feet 6 inches tall, 53 feet long, and 80,000 lbs gross vehicle weight. Most medium and large wheel loaders exceed at least one of these thresholds:
- Width: Most loaders from the Cat 966 class up are 10 to 13 feet wide with bucket attached — always requiring an oversize width permit. Removing the bucket reduces width in many cases.
- Height: Loaders with ROPS structures and raised arms can reach 14 to 17 feet in transport position, triggering height permits on routes with low bridges or utility lines.
- Weight: Loaders from the Cat 980 class and above (86,000+ lbs machine weight) require axle-weight management to distribute load across enough axles and avoid overweight permit triggers.
- Length: Most standard loaders on RGN trailers fall within legal length limits, but mining-class loaders may require overlong permits on certain state routes.
Our permitting team files the appropriate single-trip or multi-state oversize/overweight permits with each state DOT along the planned route. We work directly with state transportation agencies to verify bridge weight restrictions and coordinate travel windows where required.
Common Loader Transport Applications
- Construction site-to-site equipment relocation during project transitions
- Rental company fleet repositioning between branch locations
- Dealer-to-dealer new equipment deliveries and used equipment transfers
- Auction purchase transport from major equipment auctions nationwide
- Mining operation startup — moving loader fleets to new site locations
- Agricultural operation equipment moves during planting and harvest seasons
- Equipment repair facility transport for major service or rebuild
Loader Hauling Pricing
Wheel loader transport pricing depends on the machine's operating weight, dimensions, pickup and delivery locations, and permit requirements. As a general guide: compact loaders (under 30,000 lbs) typically cost $1,500 to $3,500 for regional moves; medium loaders (30,000 to 80,000 lbs) range from $2,500 to $6,000; large loaders (80,000 to 150,000 lbs) typically run $5,000 to $12,000 or more depending on distance and permits; and mining-class loaders require project-specific quotes.
