Doosan Heavy Equipment Transport Services
R&RM LLC has been hauling heavy construction equipment since 2011, and Doosan machinery is among the most common equipment we move for contractors, rental companies, and dealers across all 48 continental states. The Doosan lineup — now marketed as HD Hyundai Construction Equipment — spans everything from compact DX35Z mini excavators to the massive DX800LC-7 production excavator, each presenting its own loading dimensions and permitting requirements.
Whether you need a single DX225 moved from a job site in Georgia to a rental yard in Tennessee, or a full fleet transfer from a mine in Wyoming to a new operation in Texas, we coordinate logistics end to end: route surveys, state oversize permits, pilot car arrangements where required, and RGN or lowboy trailer selection matched to each machine. Call (404) 987-6225 or request a Doosan haul quote online and we will respond within a few hours during business hours.
Doosan Excavator Models We Transport
Doosan excavators carry the DX series designation and are widely used in site work, pipeline construction, quarry operations, and large-scale earthmoving. Here is a breakdown by size class:
Compact and Mini Excavators (DX35–DX85)
Compact Doosan excavators are popular on tight urban job sites and landscaping projects. These machines typically weigh between 3,500 kg and 8,500 kg and can often be transported on a standard tag trailer or gooseneck. However, many contractors move multiple units at once, or need the machine delivered to a location where an RGN makes loading safer and faster — we handle both scenarios.
- DX35Z: Approximately 3,500 kg, zero-tail-swing design popular in confined urban sites
- DX55: Approximately 5,360 kg, versatile mid-compact workhorse
- DX63: Approximately 6,200 kg, compact with standard tail swing for open sites
- DX85R: Approximately 8,500 kg, reduced-swing radius for tight-quarters jobs
Standard Excavators (DX140–DX225)
The most common Doosan machines in the rental and contractor market, the DX140 through DX225 class requires a lowboy or RGN trailer for proper transport. Operating weights run from 14,000 to 24,000 kg. Machine width with tracks extended can reach 10 feet, and some states require an oversize width permit when transport width exceeds 8.5 feet.
- DX140LCR: Approximately 14,100 kg, reduced-swing model popular in pipe laying and utility work
- DX190LC: Approximately 19,000 kg, standard-tail production excavator widespread in construction
- DX225LC: Approximately 23,000 kg, one of the best-selling mid-size excavators in North America
- DX225LC-7X: Updated variant with enhanced hydraulics, same transport footprint as the LC
Large Excavators (DX300–DX530)
Larger Doosan excavators move significant earth on road-building, quarry, and large site development projects. Operating weights from 30,000 to 55,000 kg place these machines firmly in oversize load territory. Most states require special permits when combined transport weight exceeds 80,000 lbs, and machines in this class regularly cross that threshold when loaded on a multi-axle lowboy.
- DX300LC: Approximately 29,800 kg, heavy earthmover for large civil and road projects
- DX380LC: Approximately 37,500 kg, large-scale quarry and mining support excavator
- DX420LC: Approximately 41,600 kg, high-production excavator for major earthworks
- DX530LC: Approximately 52,000 kg, one of Doosan's largest production excavators
Mining-Class Excavators (DX800LC)
The DX800LC-7 is a true mining-class hydraulic excavator, weighing approximately 82,000 kg in working configuration. Moving a machine of this size requires partial disassembly — boom, stick, counterweight, and carbody often ship on separate loads depending on state route restrictions. Our team coordinates the full disassembly move sequence and works with state DOT permit offices along the route to obtain the required superload permits.
Doosan Wheel Loaders
The DL series wheel loaders range from the compact DL160 to the large DL580. Wheel loaders present a unique transport challenge: they are wide, they have high ground clearance, and the bucket extends considerably in front of the machine. We typically ship them with the bucket removed and loaded separately, or with the bucket lowered and secured per manufacturer recommendations.
- DL220: Approximately 19,900 kg, widely used in quarry, aggregate, and large construction sites
- DL380: Approximately 34,500 kg, large-scale loader suited for mine site and port operations
- DL580: Approximately 55,000 kg, high-capacity production loader requiring multi-axle transport
Doosan Articulated Dump Trucks (DA Series)
The DA Series articulated dump trucks — including the DA30-5 and DA45-5 — are built for off-highway hauling at mine sites, large construction sites, and aggregate operations. These machines weigh 25,000 to 43,000 kg empty and have a wide frame. They typically ship with the body lowered on a multi-axle lowboy, and on interstate routes may require the articulation joint to be pinned and safety-chained per applicable state regulations. We handle permit routing through each state on the haul.
Trailer Selection for Doosan Equipment
We match the right trailer type to each Doosan machine based on its weight, dimensions, and job site loading conditions:
- RGN (Removable Gooseneck): The preferred choice for excavators — the gooseneck detaches so the machine drives directly onto the deck. Fast, low deck height, excellent weight distribution.
- Hydraulic Lowboy: For machines too long for standard RGN loading, or when the delivery site requires a specific loading angle and deck height.
- Multi-Axle Stretch Lowboy: For DX420, DX530, and DX800 class machines where axle weight must be distributed across more axles to satisfy state permit bridge formula requirements.
- Step-Deck or Flatbed: For compact machines under 10,000 kg with low transport height, and for attachments, buckets, and counterweights shipped alongside the main unit.
Oversize and Overweight Permit Coordination
Most Doosan excavators in the DX225 class and larger require oversize or overweight permits in every state the truck passes through. Permit thresholds vary — for example, the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT Special Permits) requires a permit when transport width exceeds 8.5 feet or total load weight exceeds 80,000 lbs. Tennessee, Alabama, and other Southeastern states each set their own width, height, and weight thresholds.
R&RM LLC pulls permits for every state on the route, arranges pilot cars when dimensions exceed single-escort thresholds — typically width over 14 feet or height over 14.5 feet in most states — and plans moves around restricted travel windows such as sunrise-to-sunset requirements and holiday blackout periods. See our full permit services page for more detail on how we handle the paperwork.
