Aerial Work Platform Hauling

Boom lifts, scissor lifts, and aerial work platforms from all major manufacturers transported safely across all 48 states. Flatbed, step deck, and RGN options available.

Aerial Work Platform Transport Services

R&RM LLC has transported aerial work platforms of all types since 2011 — from compact electric scissor lifts to large rough-terrain boom lifts towering over 180 feet. Whether you're a rental company rotating fleet inventory, a contractor relocating a lift between job sites, or a dealer delivering a newly purchased machine, we provide safe, reliable transport across all 48 continental states.

Aerial work platforms span a wide range of sizes, weights, and transport requirements. Smaller scissor lifts move on standard flatbed trailers without permits. Large telescoping boom lifts can exceed legal width and height thresholds, triggering oversize permit requirements in every transit state. We assess each unit individually and select the correct trailer and permit package before pickup.

Types of Aerial Work Platforms We Transport

Articulating Boom Lifts

Articulating boom lifts — sometimes called knuckle booms — use hinged boom sections that fold and extend around obstacles, making them ideal for indoor and outdoor construction access. Popular models we haul include:

Articulating booms range from about 8,000 lbs for compact electric models to over 45,000 lbs for large rough-terrain units. Most haul without oversize permits when folded to transport configuration, but boom width and transport height must be confirmed before dispatch.

Telescoping Boom Lifts

Telescoping boom lifts extend in a straight line and provide the greatest reach heights, often surpassing 180 feet of working height. These are the most common units requiring oversize permits due to transport length and height when stowed. Models we frequently haul include:

Large telehandler boom lifts (1,200 SJ and above) can weigh up to 50,000 lbs and measure over 100 feet in stowed transport length. These require multi-axle RGN trailers, state oversize permits, and in some cases pilot car escorts.

Scissor Lifts

Scissor lifts are the most commonly transported aerial work platform because of their compact form, wide availability in rental fleets, and high demand on construction projects nationwide. We transport both electric and rough-terrain models:

Most scissor lifts transport four to six per flatbed load, making fleet rotation cost-effective. Single-unit moves are also accommodated when projects require rapid equipment deployment.

Spider Lifts & Track-Mounted Lifts

Spider lifts and tracked aerial platforms are specialty equipment used in tight-access areas, indoor arenas, bridge maintenance, and tree trimming. Their compact transport width — often under 36 inches — makes them straightforward to haul, but their unique configurations require careful restraint planning. We transport Palazzani, Teupen, Platform Basket, and CTE spider lifts.

Personnel Lifts & Vertical Mast Lifts

Compact vertical mast lifts, also called personnel lifts, are the smallest category of aerial work platforms. Units from JLG (ES Series), Genie (GR Series), and Skyjack (SJ12) typically weigh under 3,000 lbs and transport easily on flatbed or enclosed trailers. We handle single-unit and bulk fleet moves for rental companies and dealers.

Transport Methods

Oversize & Overweight Permits for Boom Lifts

Legal limits on US roads are: 8 ft 6 in wide, 13 ft 6 in tall, 40–53 ft long (varies by state), and 80,000 lbs gross vehicle weight. Large boom lifts commonly exceed one or more of these limits when loaded:

Our permit coordination team handles all state oversize and overweight applications, route surveys, and pilot car arrangements so your equipment moves legally and on schedule.

Preparing Your AWP for Transport

Before pickup, operators should:

Our drivers confirm transport readiness at pickup and will not load a unit with loose or unsecured attachments.
